Community service

I moved to Cleveland in 2015 from several years in Washington, DC, driven by a desire to come home and help Ohio's structures and systems do a better job of serving its population.

  • 2016: Invited onto the Preterm Board.

  • 2017: Invited onto the Guide to Kulchur Board. Cofounded the Cleveland Bi+ Network. Cofounded the Feminist Writing Circle.

  • 2018: Elected to chair the Preterm Board. Established the Bi+ community group at the LGBT Center. Cofounded the Cleveland Kings Action Pack. Ran a panel at the EmpowerU! conference.

  • 2019: Invited onto the Plexus Board and selected to chair the Development committee. Published first book with Crisis Chronicles Press. Performed as a selected newly published poet of the year at the Cuyahoga County Public Library. Ran a panel at the EmpowerU! conference. Founded the Queer Community Read, northeast Ohio's largest gathering of queer poets.

I value the relationships these community connections represent, and the opportunity to learn and engage with the local nonprofit, creative arts, and queer communities that they gave me.

Professional experience

I began my career in Washington DC with a nonfiction book publisher, first in editorial work and then as a publicist for our general interest program. I leveraged conferences, reviews, email marketing, and media coverage to publicize my titles. My crowning achievement was securing one of my authors a spot on the Daily Show with Jon Stewart.

I moved to Cleveland and switched to the finance industry, where I specialized in marketing, communications, and project management. My last corporate position was at Charles Schwab, where I was a communication manager, responsible for implementing annual communication plans for clients in the financial and legal sectors.

I am currently working on a freelance/contract basis, primarily on marketing, communications, and public relations projects for small and startup nonprofits and businesses. I also offer nonprofit development consulting, and work with new or new-to-development organizations to help them grow their profile, extend their community reach, and align their mission, values, and structure. I am dedicated to continuing to build community organizations that serve unmet needs in the city I love.
